Sifter:
Building personalized
grocery platform

dietary needs
In a byte
Sifter is the brainchild of Andrew and Thomas Parkinson - veterans of online grocery. They imagined an online platform for consumers personalized to their dietary and nutritional needs, making it simple and safe to shop for groceries.
What we did
We helped the Parkinson brothers realize their vision. From building a complex machine-learning driven search tool to developing the UI, Egen helped launch Sifter from the ground up.

A rekindled partnership.
Before Sifter, the Parkinson brothers had worked with Egen on reimagining Peapod's Cloud Architecture. Delighted by the success we provided, they returned to our experts to help build Sifter.
We understood their mission immediately. We knew Sifter would need robust data pipelines to handle information on over 25 million grocery SKUs from multiple partners and the plan was to process data in 12 hours. This data would be communicated over a seamless user interface that would recommend products based on preferences, diet, and lifestyle.
For third-party access, Sifter needed a fool-proof access security solution.
API-friendly shopping platform.
We helped build Sifter by keeping its founders’ vision in mind. To deliver personalized recommendations, we created a secure engine that uses an API to connect to third-party tools.
We also automated the data ingestion process to reduce processing times to 4 hours - an amazing accomplishment in a third of the planned time. By implementing serverless architecture, we designed a reliable, scalable platform for Sifter, helping them realize their vision of personalized groceries for all.
